2017 Classic Award Nominations

The 3 Legislative Commissions - the African-American Affairs (AAAC), Asian Pacific American Affairs (APAC) and the Latino and Puerto-Rican Affairs (LPRAC) Commissions - have merged to form the State of Connecticut Commission on Equity and Opportunity (CEO).

For 18 years the AAAC has hosted an annual Classic Awards Gala honoring African-American men, women and youth who have made significant contributions to the state of Connecticut.  The newly formed CEO will continue the tradition.  This year’s event will be held on May 12, 2017 in the atrium of the Legislative Office Building at 7:00 PM.

Please feel free to nominate someone in your community that you feel deserves to be honored and recognized at the event.  Awards will be presented to Man and Woman of the Year, Business Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and Youth of the Year scholarships will be presented to high school seniors for their academic achievement.
