City Council wants more say in downtown plans

The Bridgeport Council is complaining that the mayor is bypassing them as he seals a deal allowing a New York developer to rehabilitate downtown. A pair of historic Main Street theaters, an old hotel and new residential towers is all in play.

But Mayor Joe Ganim does not believe the final contract requires the City Council’s review and vote. Not so, says Councilwoman Milta Feliciano.

“I don’t agree with it,” Feliciano told the Connecticut Post. “Bring the full contract in front of us. Give us a chance to read it. Then let us make a decision.”
