Public Hearing: Tell Policymakers to Rein In State Spending

Do you want a say in how Connecticut spends your tax dollars? Now's your chance.

The state Spending Cap Commission is holding five public hearings across the state to get your input on what parts of the state budget should fall under the cap.

All hearings run from 4 to 7 pm.

Wed., Oct. 5 | Hartford (1st Congressional District) Legislative Office Building, Room 1E For those planning on testifying, signups will begin at 1 pm in Room 2700 of the LOB(Appropriations Committee Office). For all other hearings, signup is at 3 pm.

Thurs., Oct. 13 | Bridgeport (4th Congressional District) City Council Chambers, Bridgeport City Hall 45 Lyon Terrace, Bridgeport, CT 06604

Wed., Oct. 19 | New Haven (3rd Congressional District) Location TBA

Wed., Oct. 26 | Windham (2nd Congressional District) Location TBA

Wed., Nov. 16 | Waterbury (5th Congressional District) Location TBA

The spending cap was overwhelmingly approved by voters in 1992 after enactment of the state income tax. It is imperative that the legislature enact an enforceable cap that brings budget stability by capping the amount the state can spend in any given year.

CBIA will be providing testimony and urges you to do so as well.

If you are unable to participate in person, you may submit a written statement to AppTestimony@cga.ct.gov and send a copy to louise.dicocco@cbia.com.

For additional information or questions, please email CBIA's Louise DiCocco or call her at 203.589.6515.
